ok, readers and lurkers... (if there are any) most of my students are near completing the The Twilight Saga
and have worked their way through Sherman Alexie
. Last year they all read the Uglies Set: Uglies, Pretties, Specials
. They read A Child Called It
in middle school... I'm running out of ideas and to be honest, I don't have time to read a bunch of books in hopes of finding something of interest. There are just too many books out there!
I need some new high interest recommendations for my students. The books has to start off with a bang and I need ones that interest boys and girls. What is everyone at your school reading?

Anything But Ordinary - Valerie Hobbs
The Thirteenth Tale
A Long Way Gone
Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac - Gabrielle Zevin
Plus The Secret Life of Bees is the absolute best book I have ever read. A bunch of my 8th graders and high schoolers have read it and loved it too. (I more or less recommend Secret Life to anyone and everyone because it's fantastic!)
