Book Recommendations

ok, readers and lurkers... (if there are any) most of my students are near completing the The Twilight Sagaand have worked their way through Sherman Alexie. Last year they all read the Uglies Set: Uglies, Pretties, Specials. They read A Child Called Itin middle school... I'm running out of ideas and to be honest, I don't have time to read a bunch of books in hopes of finding something of interest. There are just too many books out there!

I need some new high interest recommendations for my students. The books has to start off with a bang and I need ones that interest boys and girls. What is everyone at your school reading?

Plus The Secret Life of Bees is the absolute best book I have ever read. A bunch of my 8th graders and high schoolers have read it and loved it too. (I more or less recommend Secret Life to anyone and everyone because it's fantastic!)

Feed by M.T. Anderson is a hit with my 9th grade students. It starts off with a bang that will hook your readers, especially the boys.

Here it is... Since I was to be in a meeting all day, the district hired a substitute for my classes. And thus my aversion to having subs in my class was born. Or rather the unknown factor of them - the planner in me cringes at the thought of being off schedule. Of course, I could be flexible, but flexible is much harder.
